Comments like “I get paid to be here either way” seem to reinforce the idea that individuals feel like work is a place they “have” to go to, but don’t really enjoy the experience. Gallup’s survey of U.S. employee engagement consistently shows approximately one third of employees are engaged in their work and estimates 1.9 trillion in lost productivity nationally.
